Welcome
This guide is everything we learned on our own Dapoli weekend, so you can drive down, eat well and find the good beaches without the two mistakes almost every first timer makes.
Dapoli is a small town in Ratnagiri district with about 50 km of coastline behind it, running roughly from Kelshi and Velas in the north to Dabhol in the south.

AT A GLANCE
- 215 km from Mumbai, about 5 hours on the right route
- 3 nights is the sweet spot, 2 at a minimum
- Mango, kokum, cashew and jackfruit country
- Everything worth seeing sits within a 30 km radius of your stay
How to use it
- Read Getting there before you start the car. The route is the single most useful page here.
- Read Eating in Dapoli next, especially if anyone in the car is vegetarian.
- Use Where to stay to decide between a hotel and a villa before you start comparing prices.
- Follow The perfect 3 night plan, or pull the days apart and build your own.
- Run through the Final checklist the night before you leave.
Where a line says approximate, treat it as approximate. Road conditions, rates, meal plans and timings change through the year, so reconfirm anything you are booking on.
