Kenya is painted in many shades of wild. The country’s vibrant and wildlife and their migration as well as conservation stories make Kenya a bright shining star in the map of Africa’s most beautiful destinations. We spent the first episode of exploring this gem of a country for wildlife maniacs in Maasai Mara National Park. It was really tough for us to bid adieu to this national park before proceeding ahead to explore more destinations in Kenya. And our next stop was Lake Naivasha.

We loved this place so much

We planned for a one night stay here and the place we were staying in was a major highlight! We’re talking about Lake Naivasha Country Club Hotel which is of the best hotels in the region. You get pampered with a serene lake view and top-notch hospitality here. There is also a huge lush lawn between the lake and the hotel where there is an in-house jungle with zebras, deer, waterbucks, migratory wildebeests, birds, and peacocks. We had our meals relaxing on the lawn with these beautiful animals around us. We spent our evening at our pace enjoying the lake and soaking in the luxury of the place. The blissful day ended with barbeque & buffet dinner, exciting music, and dance! What more we could have asked for?

Storytime: After playing a Foosball game at the reception area, we finally headed towards our cottage accompanied by security guards. When we asked why do they do so, they told us that crocodiles and hippos are often seen entering the hotel premises from the lake and they don’t prohibit the animals. They try their best to maintain a natural interaction between the guests and the animals. Isn’t that unique? Now, after hearing this, we were not in a mood to sleep at all! We settled ourselves in the balcony of the cottage waiting for the wild guests to arrive. The hotel guards were so sweet to ask us to grab some sleep while ensuring that they would definitely wake us up if they spot any animal around. That made us calm down and crash on the bed with heavy eyes. In about two hours, we heard someone knocking at our door & we literally rushed to find out who the visitor was! Guess what? It was a one-year-old baby hippo! He was huge and looked nothing like a baby, lol. The munchkin was busy grazing grass & we couldn’t even realize how we spent an hour watching him, we were so immersed in the thrill of Kenya in a silent dark night! An enthralling treat to remember for the whole life. 🙂

The next morning, after having our delectable breakfast, we left for our pre-planned boat ride in Lake Naivasha. It was heavenly and so beautiful,  we saw bald eagles and thousands of pelicans. The experience of the boat ride was nothing less than living a fairytale! After the ride, we came back to our hotel to collect the luggage and check out to head towards the next destination – Lake Nakuru.

We booked our stay at Lake Elementia Lodge, a decent hotel with an amazing view, a pretty garden, and a swimming pool. This place has a national park – Lake Nakuru National Park famous for game drives to spot white rhinos, wild buffaloes, various species of monkeys, deer, zebras and it’s most popular for flamingos. In our game drive, we could see one white rhino that too from a large distance and many wild buffaloes. We couldn’t see any flamingos too (and that kind of broke our heart). However, we enjoyed the best sunset view from our hotel lawn and that pretty much made for fair compensation. 🙂

There you go! Our leisure-tinted days passed by like that, and it is clearly evident that Lake Naivasha & Lake Nakuru makes for the perfect stops to take a break from extreme adventure. We had the best time there unwinding ourselves and enjoying nature up close without any filter!
